ABOUT US
WHO ARE WE ?
Annai Tamil Academy (ATA) is a volunteer-run nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to teaching the classical language Tamil (pronounced as Thamizh - தமிழ்) to the student aged 5 and above.
It was founded in the year 2020-21 with 16 students with parent volunteers as teachers, advisors, and administrators. In 2021-22, we've gotten tremendous support from parents that totaled to 79 students. In 2022-23, we have reached to 125. And in 2023-24 we have stopped accepting new enrollments at 160. For the year 2024-25, we aimed to stop at 200 but we are at 215. Our goal is to provide a quality education (than quantity) and have a pleasant learning experience.
WHAT's OUR FOCUS ?
The mission is to provide our students with teaching and language cultural avenues to develop the love for the Tamil language, improve proficiency levels in reading, writing, speaking, and listening domains.
Vision is to see our students who have studied/graduated Tamil, are returning to volunteer their time to “give back” to the community and also take great responsibility to pass it on to the next generation growing up on American soil.
ARE WE AFFILIATED ?
Annai Tamil Academy is one of the affiliated schools, with the American Tamil Academy that has the foot print in 30+ US states and manages more than 90+ schools and more than 10K students worldwide.
At Annai Tamil Academy, use the curriculum and the textbooks developed by American Tamil Academy and we follow ATA standards / methods to teach Tamil.
CONTINUOUS LEARNING
Annai Tamil Academy is happy to hear feedback / comments from the Parents/Teachers/Students and improve through the continuous learning process, as we grow.
We understand children growing in the United States need a different approach to learn the Tamil language. We believe that Tamil learning is not about reading/writing drills, but eventually it is about generating love for the Tamil language and the culture.
Annai Tamil Academy does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, nationality, and ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, admission policies, and other school-administered programs.
